The Last Pouch of the Season… and the Only One Available!
After this weekend at the Feast of the Hunter’s Moon, I’ll be turning my attention back to bespoke work, so it may be a good while before another pouch finds its way to the table.
This little fellow is made from a finely woven antique coverlet and lined with antique linen. Blue thread runs throughout the topstitching, including the distinctive “X” stitching along the front binding, while leather welts finish the seams.
The flap features an unusual piece of bovine leather I’d been saving for just such an occasion. A little madder-red wool for the flap lining adds a welcome pop of color.
For a closure, I repurposed a pewter button from a ranger’s legging. Inside, you’ll find a pocket made from bark-tanned leather, complete with its natural edge along the top. The strap is fashioned from more of the same antique coverlet and finished with an iron buckle.
It ain’t a big thing—and that’s rather the point. Measuring 5¾” x 7½”, it’s sized to carry what you need without carrying on about it.
Quaint, quirky, quintessential folk fun. Call it what you wish… or better yet, call it yours.
