It’s nice to sometimes experiment and try new things — and here’s one example.

This bag is larger than my usual, measuring a generous 14” x 11½”. The front is waxed hemp bound in leather, with a leather welt at the seam for added structure and durability.

The back is a gnarly, rock-solid oil-tan leather that will take a licking and keep on going.

The real fun was in the flap. It’s pieced with oil tan pigskin and the same oil-tanned cowhide as the backing, all brought together with hand-sewn X stitches for both strength and character.

The strap is attached with rings and uses the same pig and cow leathers as the body of the bag, keeping everything cohesive. The button was made by Richard Lanni.

Inside, there’s a full-width interior pocket with a divider, creating two compartments to keep things organized.

Obviously one of a kind. Thanks for letting me experiment a little.

What would you carry in this bag?
